New York Comic Con stories
Hello, it’s me Mariooo…I mean Ejen!
No, I’m not planning to be at #NYCC. I was planning to but the uprise in positive cases and…well, I’m just not comfortable at bigger conventions. I feel better at smaller events like under a few thousand but really at the end of the day, I realized I may not be safer at a smaller convention than a bigger convention. In any case, I figured on staying in Texas for cons for at least until the end of the year.
Speaking of New York Comic Con, here’s three stories from last year.

I do many Disney related cosplay, usually with some kind of spin on it. I wanted to do some type of character that could incorporate a ballgown into the design without it actually just being a dress. I eventually came up with this idea, with some help from some friends who also love Disney and cosplay
Carnage & Venon : Spidey-Mom
My 9yr old son loves to cosplay. He’s the reason we go to cons, the reason I dress up, the reason I do it all! With covid and the mandatory masks, we needed to rethink our cosplay. With inspiration from a video going around, we decided to go with Venom because he could wear a mask that looked like it was part of his cosplay! Since we cosplay as a mom and son team, and with the new movie out, we decided to do Venom and Carnage. A perfect duo with not too many costume parts needed.

I think as we grow up a lot of us become a Squidward and forget how to have fun or at least I did. But I mostly like to make characters I grew up watching on tv and enjoy. Also characters that people don’t do much of but when you see that character you instantly know who they are.
Cosplay Recycle
I’ve been thinking, sometimes you have leftover fabric, materials or other items that you may not have a use for but another cosplayer might. I’m sure some cons do this but what if there was a cosplay swap meet or other event at a con where folks can bring their leftover items to sell or trade.
It would benefit the community, help stop unnecessary trash dumping and maybe save you some money in the process.
